Why Solancr Exists

QR codes have become part of everyday life. They appear on restaurant menus, business cards, event posters, product packaging, and classroom handouts. Most people need a code once in a while, generate it, and move on. That simple task should not require an account, a subscription, or a monthly plan.

Solancr was created to make that task as small as possible. Open a page, fill in the form, download the image. That is the entire workflow. There are no hidden steps, no email verification, and no account dashboard waiting for you afterward.

How It Works Under the Hood

Every QR code on this site is generated with JavaScript running on your device. When you type a URL, a phone number, or WiFi credentials into a form, that data is encoded into the QR pattern locally in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, logged, or stored on a server.

This matters for two reasons. First, it means your data never leaves your device, which is important for sensitive fields like WiFi passwords and contact details. Second, it means the tool is fast, because there is no round trip to a backend for every keystroke.

Static Codes, Not Dynamic

Solancr produces static QR codes. The content you enter is written directly into the pattern of the code itself. This has a clear tradeoff worth knowing about.

The advantage is that the code will keep working as long as the destination exists. You do not need an account to keep it alive, and nothing breaks if this website ever goes offline. The disadvantage is that you cannot edit the destination after printing. If you need to change the URL later, you generate a new code.

For most personal and small business uses, static codes are the right choice. They are also the only kind that can honestly be called free forever.

Download Formats

Every code can be downloaded as PNG, JPG, or WEBP. PNG is the best choice for printing because it keeps sharp edges at any size. JPG produces a smaller file for the web. WEBP is a modern format supported by current browsers and offers a good balance between quality and size.

Privacy

Solancr does not use accounts, does not track individual users, and does not sell data. Because generation happens in the browser, there is very little data to collect in the first place. The few things the site does store are technical, such as cached files in your browser so the site loads faster on repeat visits.
